Kisah Abu al-Haitsam bin at-Tayhan Sahabat Anshar The First BelieverRead

Abu al-Haitsam bin at-Tayhan was an Anshar companion of the Aus tribe. He took part in a great event, the Baiat Aqobah with seventy other Anshar companions. In fact, he was one of the Anshar leaders present at the historic event. He also participated in the Battle of Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, and all the wars with the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam.

The lineage

Abu al-Haitsam is his kun-yah. While his name and lineage is Malik bin at-Taihan bin Malik bin Atik bin Amr bin al-Aus al-Anshari. Some say that he was the first person to pledge allegiance to Rasulullah in Baiat Aqobah II.

Ibn Ishaq said, “Bani Najjar believe that Abu Umamah As’ad bin Zurarah was the first person to pledge allegiance to the Prophet. While Bani Abdul Asy-hal said that the first was Abu al-Haitsam bin at-Taihan.

Embraced Islam

Muhammad bin Umar said, “Abu al-Haitsam was a person who hated idols since the time of ignorance. He kept his heart pure by staying away from the idols. And he believes in monotheism. He and As’ad bin Zurarah were the first two people to embrace Islam from among the Anshar. Both embraced Islam while in Mecca. Then they joined the first eight people who believed in the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. They all believed before his people. And Abu al-Haitsam was among the six Anshar who first met the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam in Mecca. Then they came to Medina with their Islam. Then spread it. ”

Muhammad ibn Umar also said, “Abu al-Haitsam also spent the day with seventy Anshar in Baiat Aqobah II. He was one of the twelve Anshar leaders at the time. Rasulullah befriended him with a friend of the Muhajireen, Uthman bin Mazh’un. Abu al-Haitsam took part in the Battle of Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, and all the battles followed by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. “

Some also say that the Anshar people who first embraced Islam were As’ad bin Zurarah and Dzakwan bin Abdu Qais. The two came to Mecca to meet Utbah bin Rabi’ah. Utbah said to both of them, “People who pray keep us so busy that we forget many things. He claims to be a messenger of God. “

Then As’ad ibn Zurarah and Abu al-Haitsam talked about monotheism in Yathrib (Medina). Dzakwan bin Abdu Qais said to As’ad bin Zurarah about Utbah’s words, “Take that religion.” Both are getting ready. Then go to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. “

Upon arrival in Mecca, the Prophet offered Islam to these two people. Both also embraced Islam. Then return to Medina. In Medina, As’ad met Abu al-Haitsam bin at-Taihan. He preached about his Islam. He conveyed the words of the Prophet to Abu al-Haitsam. And invite him to believe. Abu al-Haitsam replied, “Indeed I bear witness together that he is the Messenger of Allah.” He embraced Islam.

With Rasulullah

When Rasulullah was serious about making an agreement with the Anshar people in Baiat Aqobah, he stood up and spoke. Then read the Qur’an. Calling them to God. and motivate them to embrace Islam. he said, “I swear to you to promise to protect me as you protect your wives and children.”

Al-Barra ‘bin Ma’ruru reached for his hand. Then he said, “Yes. By the One who sent you with the truth and made you a prophet, we will protect you as we protect those who are with us. We pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah. For God’s sake, we are experts in warfare and strategists. It is inherited from our figures to the next. ”

Al-Barra’s speech was heard by Abu al-Haitsam bin at-Taihan. He also convinced Rasulullah, “O Rasulullah, we really have a relationship with a group -meaning the Jews of Medina-. But we decided on that. There is concern for us, after we protected you and severed ties with the Jews, then Allah won your da’wah, then you returned to your people and left us. “

Rasulullah smiled and said, “No. Blood is reciprocated with blood. My honor is your honor. I am part of you and you are part of me. I’m fighting the people you’re fighting. And I make peace with the people you make peace with. ”

The meaning of Rasulullah is that you shed blood to protect me. A worthy response is also bloodshed to protect the kalin. You severed ties with the Jews because I -because the Jews rejected the Prophet-. I also severed ties with the Quraysh who rejected me even though they were my relatives.

Another story that tells about the togetherness of Abu al-Haitsam with the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam is a narration from Abu Hurairah radhiallahu’ anhu.

One day or night the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam went out with Abu Bakr and Umar. He asked, “What keeps you two out of the house at hours like this”? Both replied, “Hungry, Messenger of Allah.” He said, “I am also for the sake of which my soul is in His hands, which makes me out is also what makes you out. Let’s go.”

Both of them went with Rasulullah. They found someone Anshar. It turned out that the friend was not at home. When the friend’s wife saw the arrival of these noble people, she said, “Marhban wa ahlan.” Rasulullah said, “Where is the Fulan”? His wife said, “He went to get ari for us.”

Then the friend came. He saw the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam with two of his companions. He said, “Alhamdulillah .. today no one has a guest of honor.”

It serves containers containing fresh dates, dried dates, and wet dates. Then he said, “Eat this.” Then he picked up his knife. Rasulullah advised, “Watch out, do not slaughter the milk.” He slaughtered for his noble guests. They also ate the goat meat dish. Accompanied by a handful of dates and drinks.

Salih bin Kaisan said, “Abu al-Haitsam died during the caliphate of Umar.” Others say, “He died in the year 20 A.D.” Al-Waqidi commented, “According to us, the truth is that he was killed in the Battle of Shiffin and was on Ali’s side.”
