In this digital era, learning does not have to be confined to conventional methods alone. Learning can be done by utilizing digital media as a learning resource, including learning media for Physical Education, Sports, and Health ( PJOK) lessons.
This was conveyed by the Director of Elementary Schools, Kemendikbudristek, Dra. Sri Wahyuningsih, M.Pd at the webinar for the Launch of the Electronic Learning Module Promoting the Profile of Pancasila Students through Sports, Friday, October 29, 2021.
“Through this webinar, we will both explore how to take advantage of the development of digital technology for sports subjects. In addition, the PJOK learning paradigm can also be interpreted to prepare the Pancasila Student Profile,” said the woman who is familiarly called Nining.
The Elementary School Director continued, sports facilities that will be used for PJOK learning media must be considered to be well prepared, following ethics and norms when moving limbs. So it really provides health benefits.
“With this new paradigm of PJOK learning, which is packaged in this newly launched electronic module, we will capture the essence of sports activities in an effort to prepare the Pancasila Student Profile,” he added.
Sri Wahyuningsih also reminded that in this digital era, students are often far more advanced in understanding advances in digital technology, especially in accessing information via the internet. Therefore, educators and parents should not be left behind in understanding technological developments. Take advantage of digital technology to improve the quality of learning.
Renata Melati Putri, S.Pd., MA., Module Content Creator and Professional Consultant for Sport for Development explained that so far in Indonesia there has been a misunderstanding about sports education in schools. PJOK teachers are often required to look for new talents who can be trained to become professional athletes, especially in elementary school education units.
“In fact, sports lessons have a role to play in developing mental well-being, increasing social interaction between children, and this must be done deliberately,” said Renata.
Therefore, in the new PJOK paradigm module or the so-called S4D which was just launched, teachers are required to be more creative. In several countries around the world, sports teachers teach children how to work together so that they are not easily or easily influenced by conflict. So the next generation of the nation has been educated from an early age not to get involved in conflicts that can damage the life of society, the life of the nation and the state.
“In the new paradigm, sports education is more of a practice to remind and invite children to always reflect on the noble values in sports,” he added.
The role of teachers in elementary schools, continued Renata, is actually to shape the nation’s future generation. Because elementary school children are shoots that will determine the sustainability of the nation and state.
“The role of PJOK teachers who are ordered to look for athletes’ talents is not wrong. But that is not the main task. If it was made the most important task, it would be too small for the role of the sports teacher. So hopefully with the knowledge from the module that will be launched regarding the PJOK paradigm, the mindset of the teachers will be more open,” he said.
Another content creator model, Dr. Sri Winarni, M.Pd., from Yogyakarta State University said that sports and games could be a way to promote the Pancasila Student Program. Because sports will provide meaningful experiences.
“Activities in sports or playing are full of meaningful experiences. Now, this is where the new module that we created becomes an arena or media to cultivate good values in accordance with the Pancasila Student Profile,” he explained.
This module that we call S4D has a very good purpose or benefit. Where through the module will display life skills. In addition, in this S4D module there are four competencies that will be developed through various activities. There are self-competence, social competence, methodological competence and competence related to motion.
The competencies contained in this module are closely related to the Pancasila Student Profile. In the S4D module there are three stages to carry out activities. The first is preparation, the second is implementation and the third is post-implementation.
“These three stages are the big strategy but we also think that later in the implementation it will integrate the values of knowledge. Then in the preparation strategy, we must identify competencies and good values, or values that we will instill in students according to the Pancasila Student Profile,” explained Sri Winarni.
Meanwhile, Muchamad Arif Al Ardha, S.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D. (c), the Surabaya State University Content Creator Module added, in general the purpose of the Pancasila Student Profile can be taught through physical education. This S4D module will help PJOK teachers to be more creative in providing PJOK lessons and cultivate the values of the Pancasila Student Profile.
First, through this module, educators can gain inspiration, knowledge and develop skills. Then the second in this module has provided some interestingly packaged materials, such as animated videos so that they are easily understood by students.
“So when the teacher enters the LMS module, it will be determined what topics will be worked on. After that they will have the opportunity to do practical work or practical work simulations. And this is one of the media for teachers to develop in their schools or according to the character of their students, “said Arif.
Third, in this module there is identification related to teaching materials that can be used or taught. There are three teaching materials that can be selected according to the KD PJOK. Such as gymnastics activities, big ball games, there are also simple games or traditional games.
“Well, teachers can use this as a guide or develop good basic basic skills. In the module there are several examples of movement variations, improvisations that can be used as inspiration to make learning PJOK in elementary schools more interesting,” he said.
This module was launched as an example and inspiration for sports and game materials especially for elementary schools. However, the general public can also use the module as a sports learning guide for their children at home. In this module, not only materials related to KD PJOK are provided, but also inspiration for modified traditional game materials.
Through this webinar, it is hoped that teachers and parents who always accompany their children to study outside of school activities to always update creativity in PJOK learning. Make homes and schools a comfortable and fun place for children so that they can easily transform and improve the quality of teaching and learning activities.
