A. Value

1. Understanding 

Social value is everything related to good and bad things. Social value is an abstract concept aspired by the whole society that is useful for life and upheld.

2. Characteristics, Benchmarks, Sources, and Types of Social Values

a. Characteristics of Social Values

  • Values ​​can influence personal development in society both positively and negatively.
  • Social values ​​are learned and not innate.
  • Social values ​​are transmitted from one group to another, through various social processes.

b. Social Value Benchmarks

The benchmark of social value, namely the functional usability of a value and the sincerity of appreciation, acceptance, or recognition given by all or most of the community to these social values.

d. Types of Social Values

  • Material value

  • Spiritual value

3. Various Values

Some kinds of values ​​include:

  • Health-related values.
  • Values ​​related to material (economic nature).

4. The Function of Values ​​in Social Interaction

  • Guidelines for behaving and acting for citizens, such as the value of gotong-royong, the value of unity and solidarity, the value of honesty, justice, and the value of responsibility
  • A source of motivation to do something.
  • Fortresses of protection for the existence of a nation, such as: the value of Pancasila has been able to protect the Indonesian nation from undermining the enemy and is able to strengthen the unity of the Indonesian nation.

B. Norm

1. Definition of Norms and Functions of Norms

Social norms are habits, codes of conduct or customs that prevail in a society. The social norms contain rules and guidelines about the way of life, about right or wrong, good or bad, appropriate or inappropriate, and must be obeyed by all members of society. If the norm is violated, the perpetrator will receive sanctions. The norm has a binding power, citizens must abide by.

The functions of social norms, namely:

  • To arrange life together so that it is orderly and orderly 
  • As a tool of social control
  • To measure against wrong or right deeds, may or may not, polite or impolite. for example: law, law, and religion 
  • As a guide and guide in carrying out activities of daily life.

2. Various Norms

a. Unofficial Norms and Official Norms

Informal norms are standards that are vaguely formulated in the community and their implementation is not mandatory for the citizens concerned. The official norm is a standard that is formulated and required clearly and firmly by the authorities to all citizens.

b. Key norms

1). The norm is common

That is the norm that is followed without thinking, but only based on the traditions or customs prevailing in society.

2). Legals norm

That is the norm that comes from the government in the form of regulations, instructions, statutes, decisions, and laws.

3). The norm of decency

That is the norm that comes from habits made by humans as members of society, for example, manners and behavior.

4). Religious norms

That is the norm that comes from God, contains commands, prohibitions, and recommendations concerning human relations, and human relationships with God.

5). Courtesy norms

That is the norm that comes from the conscience of every human being in society.

6). Mode

Fashion is usually done by imitating or just for fun. Usually this mode in society develops very quickly.
