DISTANCE LEARNING: A PROJECT TO MAKE A CEMPOR FROM COCONUT OIL AND WATER

That day we held a monthly group meeting at one of the early childhood education units in our sub-district, Pancung Problem Pesisir Selatan, together with fellow teachers and the Regional 3 Kindergarten Superintendent. We entered the question and answer session. Not long ago, information entered the WhatsApp group from Mr. Kadisdikbud Pesisir Selatan about school holidays, the Covid-19 emergency response period, stay at home, and the postponement of all competition activities. Finally We went home with a mind full of questions, anxieties and worries. The next morning I informed the student’s parents through the student’s guardian regarding school holidays, home learning and giving assignments to students during the time determined by the government for the outbreak of emergency.

Two weeks passed, we took turns to come to school and continue to monitor the children’s home learning in the student guardian’s office, providing feedback on the assignment activities the children did at home. For children whose parents are not joined, we deliver assignments directly to students’ homes, and ask students to join nearby parents to find out assignments and deposit children’s home learning documentation.

Until the deadline for the first circular letter, Mr. Kadisdikbud Pesisir Selatan again issued an extension of the Covid-19 emergency response, an extension of the circular letter from Mr. Pesisir Selatan Regent, which means that children’s home learning will of course also be extended. I, who is already a member of the South Coastal KGB, started taking part in the Distance Learning discussion at the Corona Fighting School wag by KGBN activists. From here I began to apply PJJ to students. By starting to know what COVID-19 is, then PJJ with a theme that is close to the daily life of children at home during the COVID-19 emergency response period. I also implemented several lesson plans which were shared in the SLC wag by fellow mobilizers who were members of the KGBN, and this really helped me, and then I followed the assistance of the free learning lesson plan held by the KGBN.

Alhamdulillah, the free learning RPP assistance that I got was applied to students through Distance Learning with the WhatsApp media group of the student guardian group. The parents enthusiastically participated in this lesson with their love child. Parents are happy, their children can still learn even though they stay at home. One of them is RPP by making candles from materials that are easily available in the household, namely: edible oil, water and cotton buds. This is an interesting and challenging experience for both children and parents. The end result is not the main thing, but the process, reflection and presentation from children and parents that make this activity extraordinary. The parents became excited to follow my next project. Entering Ramadan I also apply themes related to IMTAQ,

Every test that comes must have been planned by Allah. Likewise with the wisdom behind every incident. God has wrapped it very neatly and beautifully. The test behind this Covid-19, I became acquainted with digital-based learning. What I usually teach is just as usual, now I can apply digital-based learning to my students. Even though it was a tough struggle, and it wasn’t easy for me, who has been technology stuttering all this time, Alhamdulillah, by studying and learning together, collaborating, all of that could be solved. Allah will not test his servant beyond his limits. We must believe that we can all get through this together.
